Day 3

Skeikampen - Kristiansund

Breakfast at the hotel.

The bus drives up Gudbrandsdalen, with a possible passage through Ringebu and its stave church. You arrive at Dovrefjell, the home of the musk oxen. It is possible to join a guided safari to have the best chance of seeing them. Safaris depart from Oppdal in the morning and it is strongly recommended to book at least 1 day in advance.

We advise you to discover the Snøhetta viewpoint between Oppdal and Dombås on the way to the park. This building with its modern design and awarded for its architecture provides a beautiful view of the national park. The viewpoint can be reached in a 20-minute walk from its parking lot in Tverrfjellet.

Leaving Dovrefjell you will pass throug Oppdal, by the charming Tingvolfjorden before arriving in Kristiansund.

Day 4

Kristiansund - Geiranger

Your day starts early because you have a long way to go. First start heading towards Molde, for this you can take the Atlantic route. You can take a detour to the stave church of Kvernes (+20min drive), the only one in the country to have been built after the Middle Ages. The road then winds between the islets of the archipelago and seems to fly over the sea. On stormy days, you will have the impression of finding yourself caught in the waves!

Arriving in Molde, nicknamed the City of Roses for its pretty, well-kept gardens, Molde is also rich in history. There you can visit the Romsdalsmuseet, one of Norway's largest folk museums, a cultural and scientific establishment founded in 1912. It brings together buildings and interiors from the region and also has its own library and history archives local.

The Fisheries Museum, on the enchanting island of Hjertøya, presents the culture and working environment of the surrounding coastline, as well as the living conditions in the region from 1850. This island allows you to be in direct contact with nature: visitors can rent fishing equipment and a rowing boat, go for a picnic, then go hiking or practice their swimming skills.

Finally, if you want to take a walk, opt for the Varden hike to have a beautiful panorama of the surrounding islands and the Tomsdalfjord. Start from behind the Alexandra Hotel following the “green corridor” through Reknes Park and to the Romsdalmuseet Museum. Along the way, there are plenty of bans available for a break and a small café at the top offering drinks and snacks to help you recover from the walk. The hike lasts 2-3 hours round trip. You will have a splendid view of the 222 peaks of the region!

Continue a short journey to Sølsnes to take the ferry to Åfarnes. The ferry departs approximately every 20 minutes.

Once you arrive in Åndalsnes, it is possible to visit the Norsk Tindesenter mountaineering museum, where you will discover the history and evolution of mountaineering in Norway and see period equipment during the visit. It is also possible to try your hand at the climbing wall or observe other climbers!

You are embarking on the Trolls' route. This road took 8 years to be completed in 1936 due to its complexity: it is dug into the side of a cliff and made up of 11 bends allowing a rapid descent of a high drop. Closed until the end of May due to snow, it reopens in summer to offer a magnificent landscape over the valley.

Continue your descent towards the south. At Linge, you take a ferry to Eidsdal, a crossing lasting around ten minutes. You end up on the Route des Aigles to the north of the village. This winding road offers you a superb view of Geiranger below.

Cruise on the Geirangerfjord

Get ready to embark on the Geiranger Pier for your 1 hour cruise to Hellesylt.

The boat starts in the magnificent Geirangerfjord, listed as world heritage site by UNESCO. On the way, you will see a lot of abandoned farms on the steep mountains, including the farm Skageflå.

The Geirangerfjord is also home to a lot of stunning waterfalls, the most famous ones being the Seven Sisters and the Bridal Veil.

Day 5

Førde - Bergen

Islands and wild nature are in the spotlight in the Fjord Coast region. Aim southwest to cross the Fjordkysten geological park.

In Hyllestad, you can have lunch and visit Millstone Park to learn more about the use of rocks in the Viking era at the heart of the historic quarry.

The best views in the area are still found at the mountain peaks if you're brave.

In total, you will have to drive between 4 and 5 hours to connect Førde and Bergen. This trip includes at least one ferry crossing to navigate the Sognefjord.

Day 6

which is located next to the bus parking (building with green roof)LESFJORDSENTRAIN

the bus stop.
